The Shaykh (رحمه الله) was asked concerning the khurooj (going out) of Jama’at at-Tableegh to remind the people about the greatness of Allaah.
The Shaykh responded by saying: The reality is that they are corrupt innovators and they are people upon the ways of the Qaadiriyyah and other than them. And their making khurooj is not in the path of Allaah, rather it is in the path of Ilyaas .
They do not call to the Qur’aan and the Sunnah. Rather, they call to Ilyaas, their shaykh in Bangladesh. And as for the khurooj for the purpose of da’wah, and it is the khurooj in the path of Allaah and this, is not the khurooj of the Jama’at at-Tableegh.
And I know the Jam’aat at-Tableegh of the past, and they are innovators wherever they are, whether it be in Egypt, Israel, America or Saudi Arabia. And they are all connected to their shaykh, Ilyaas.
A Soofee tareeqah (way). Other examples of Soofee turuq (ways) include the Naqshbandiyyah, Deobandiyyah, Chishtiyyah and others.
Muhammad Ilyaas bin Muhammad Ismaeel al-Hanafi is the founder of Jama’at at-Tableegh. He was born in Kaandala in the district of Sahaarnapoor in India. He claims that he was commanded to establish the Jama’at at-Tableegh by the Prophet (Sallallaahu ‘Alayhi Wa Sallam) in a dream.
